DeSean Jackson wants to reunite with Philadelphia Eagles
DeSean Jackson wants back in Philly.
The Philadelphia Eagles are in desperate need of a playmaking wide receiver and will undoubtedly be looking to sign one during the offseason. Luckily, former Eagle DeSean Jackson seems to be intrigued by the thought of re-signing with Philadelphia just three years after being unceremoniously released by Chip Kelly.
Based on multiple reports, a reunion between Jackson and the Eagles almost seems like a lock.
NFL Network’s Dan Hellie shared this interesting tidbit of information following an Instagram Live interview with former Eagle LeSean McCoy, who remains friends with Jackson.
Following the Instagram Live with McCoy, Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham appeared on TSN Philly’s Breakfast on Broad and confirmed the rumors of Jackson seeking a return to Philadelphia.
“I talked to him when Doug [Pederson] got hired. And he was like ‘Tell coach come get me,’ that type of stuff. We had fun during the season. He was like, ‘BG, I’ll be back.’ Just a little fun. But now that it’s official, as far as the season about to be over, I think you’ll be hearing a lot of noise about it.”
Earlier this month, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Eagles are likely to pursue Jackson during the offseason. According to Schefter, multiple teams believe that Jackson will reunite with the Eagles this offseason.
During a conference call in October, Jackson said he “never really had hard feelings towards Philadelphia.” His feelings toward Chip Kelly, however, are a different story.
“As far as being released by whoever released me, that’s different. But I guess he’s not there no more. So there’s never really been hard feelings towards the city or the team or organization. But like I said, things happen and we move on. I’m blessed to still have an opportunity to be playing at a high level and having a job and still playing at a high level. So never no hard feelings.”
A lot of this seems a little too good to be true, but where there’s smoke, there has to be a fire. A Jackson return to Philadelphia would immediately give the Eagles arguably the best deep threat in the NFL and help restore the spark that had been missing from the Eagles offense since the Andy Reid era.
