Despite pass rush upside, Michael Buchanan on roster bubble

Published Jun. 23, 2015 8:09 p.m. ET

The Buffalo Bills have a stacked defensive line with defensive ends Jerry Hughes and Mario Williams teaming up with defensive tackle Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus. While the starters are locked in, the real competition at defensive end occurs for the backup roles.

That is where Michael Buchanan comes into play. The defensive end enters training camp on the roster bubble as he comes over from the AFC East rival New England Patriots this offseason. He has to overcome incumbent backup players such as Jarius Wynn, Alex Carrington and Manny Lawson.

Can he make the roster after training camp? The chances of him making the roster have improved slightly after news broke Tuesday afternoon that the Bills released Bryan Johnson.
