Dez Bryant predicts Ezekiel Elliott will reach remarkable rushing feat
Everything is bigger in Texas, especially the expectations for the Dallas Cowboys. The team is off to a 5-1 start thanks in large part to its rookie tandem of Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott exceeding what many thought was possible.
Elliott is leading the NFL in rushing yards and attempts and is tied for second in rushing touchdowns, leaving many to wonder what his ceiling could be. Teammate Dez Bryant believes Elliott is going to do something no other rookie running back has done in NFL history -- rush for 2,000 yards.
“Yeah, I believe it. Two thousand or more. That’s my prediction,” Bryant said, via the Dallas Star-Telegram.
Elliott has rushed for 703 yards in his first six games, a pace eclipsed by only one other rookie running back -- Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson. The former star running back rushed for a rookie record 1,808 yards in 1983, a mark Elliott could be in position to break later this season.
But 2,000 yards? Well, running behind the Cowboys’ vaunted offensive line, anything is possible for Elliott. At his current pace, he'd end up with 1,875.
