DJ Hayden might've seen his last start as a Raiders cornerback

Published Nov. 30, 2015 6:10 p.m. ET

The Raiders finally -- and mercifully -- pulled the plug on DJ Hayden.

The former first-round pick was yanked from a starting role, then a role altogther on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. He saw just five snaps in the win.

It's a difficult, but prudent move for head coach Jack Del Rio's defense. The team responded by allowing only 218 passing yards.

Hayden's replacement, David Amerson, was at fault for at least one of Marcus Mariota's three touchdown tosses. But he saw 95 percent of the snaps and it seems he'll be entrenched across from T.J. Carrie (98 percent) of snaps for the time being.

With Neiko Thorpe (58 percent) manning the slot, Hayden's run in Oakland might be over.
