Dolphins' Jarvis Landry reportedly fined for his vicious block on Aaron Williams
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry was fined $24,309 earlier this week for his illegal block on Bills safety Aaron Williams, NFL Network reported Thursday.
According to the report, Landry received the notice from the league Tuesday. Williams was taken to the hospital after the block, which occurred during Sunday’s game at Miami. Landry, who said he apologized for the hit, was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play.
"I apologized," Landry told reporters. "I just told him to get better. You never want to see that happen to anybody. ... If I could take that hit back, I would. It's a guy's livelihood."
Williams' father told the Associated Press on Thursday that his son is not sure if he will continue playing.
Bills coach Rex Ryan criticized Landry’s action Monday, saying the hit was “totally unnecessary.”
"Never need to launch, hit a guy in the head or neck," Ryan said. "They say it's a football play."
