Dolphins to get Xavien Howard back tonight in New York
The Miami Dolphins have been playing without one of their better corners most of this season but tonight looks to be the return of rookie Xavien Howard.
Howard tweeted earlier that he was ready to play after returning to practice a few weeks ago. The Dolphins injury report confirmed as much when it was released on Friday.
The question is will Howard be able to make a difference or be a liability. In his rookie season thus far, Howard has played in four games. The first four of the season before he injured his knee that has kept him out since.
His return tonight comes with the Dolphins hoping to advance their playoff chances as they will likely need to win two of their last three if not all three of their remaining games. The Dolphins have been using a combination of Tony Lippett and Bobby McCain on the outside in his place.
Getting Howard back will help a unit that has struggled but it’s not a certainty that Howard sees a lot of playing time. The Dolphins wan to minimize any chance of the injury coming back again so it would seem smart to play him sparingly. Especially in the cold.
The Dolphins will play the Jets tonight at Metlife Stadium at 8:30 eastern.
