Drew Brees donates $1 million to Purdue football program
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is known around the football world as one of the players who contributes in a big way to his community. Signing with the Saints shortly after Hurricane Katrina, the future Hall of Fame quarterback made it one of his primary goals to help rebuild that region.
Not forgetting his roots at Purdue University, where he played college ball from 1997-2000, Brees has donated $1 million to his former football program.
In announcing his donation, Brees had this to say (via purduesports.com):
This donation comes just a few years after Brees and his wife, Brittany, donated $2 million to Purdue’s athletic program back in 2007.
It’s great to see successful NFL players give back to the programs that helped them reach the level of success we see today. With Brees, it’s not necessarily too surprising.
