Saints quarterback Drew Brees made a little history during New Orleans’ 31-21 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night.
By throwing for 312 yards, Brees eclipsed 45,000 passing yards since joining the Saints in 2006. He hit the milestone in his 148th game with New Orleans, becoming the fastest ever to reach the mark with one team.

Over his 10 seasons in New Orleans, Brees has averaged 306.1 passing yards per game. He’s now thrown for 300 yards or more 90 times in his career, with 83 coming in a Saints uniform. Only Peyton Manning (92) has more 300-yard games in NFL history.
Brees was superb against the Falcons, completing 30 of 39 passes for 312 yards and a touchdown. His 91.8 QBR was a season-high for 2015.
“For it all to come together like that, it just gives us a glimpse of what we can be,” Brees said, via ESPN.
More records are within Brees’ grasp this season. If he throws 18 touchdown passes over the final 12 games, Brees will pass Dan Marino for third all-time. He’s currently tied with Tom Brady at 403.
