Eagles sign tight end Zach Ertz to five-year extension
If it wasn't obvious after this season that Zach Ertz was the Philadelphia Eagles' long-term option as the receiving tight end, it should be now.
The Eagles signed Ertz to a five-year contract, as confirmed by FOX Sports' NFL insider Mike Garafolo.
The 25-year-old tight end has 169 career catches for 2,024 yards and nine touchdowns. His 2015 season was his best yet. The 2013 second-round pick caught 75 passes for 853 yards and two touchdowns.
The contract extension will be the fourth-highest paid tight end in the NFL, a source tells Garafolo. According to Garafolo, his five-year, $42.5 million contract extension will keep him with the Eagles through 2021.
Ertz wrote on his website, zachertz86.com, about his excitement to return to Philadelphia.
