Zach Ertz is going to forget about last year and begin the new NFL season with a stellar performance.
The last couple of seasons, we have all heard the Zach Ertz hype. Going into each new season, Ertz is expected to be as productive as the top tight ends in the NFL. However, as the season goes on, Ertz becomes invisible.
This new season offers new opportunities for Ertz. For one, the new offense installed in Philadelphia is very tight end friendly. Ertz is going to get a lot of opportunities to catch the football.
However, the new offense is not the only reason Ertz will be more productive this year. Another reason is rookie quarterback Carson Wentz. We saw a little sneak preview of this duo when the Eagles took on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this preseason. The two of them were able to connect three times for 26 yards.
Tomorrow, Wentz will make his first NFL start. Luckily for him, the Cleveland Browns have not had success covering tight ends. Only four teams allowed more tight end touchdowns last season. The Eagles have a very favorable matchup. All Wentz needs to do is give Ertz the ball.
Knowing the matchup, Ertz will sort of be Wentz’s security blanket. Ertz is going to get a lot of looks and be a major influence on the game.
Ertz is very athletic, he is going to be a player the Eagles move around a lot versus the Browns. At times, he will be seen lining up on the outside going against a cornerback. In other words, the Eagles are going create mismatches for Ertz to expose. The Browns already struggle covering tight ends. Ertz’s abilities are going to cause a huge problem for the Browns.

Ertz has not been as good as the Eagles need him to be. In fact, he has been pretty disappointing at times. This season that is all going to change. He is going to have a great season this year and it all starts tomorrow versus the Browns. Ertz is going to thrive in this game and start the season off on the right foot.
