Eagles WR Josh Huff is working with "The Footwork King"

In his first season in the NFL, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Josh Huff was likely expecting to finish with more than eight receptions for 98 yards and no touchdowns. Mental errors and the rigors of the NFL game kept Huff from emerging as anything more than the team's kick returner.

With these two faults on the surface, Huff was able to dedicate his offseason to fixing them both. Huff went back to the 2014 game tape and looked for the areas where he needed to improve in.

"Ninety percent of it is going to be mental," Huff said in a May interview. "Just because I have those up-and-down games where things don't go your way and you face adversity, it's how you bounce back from that. Learn from your mistakes. That's what I did in the offseason. I learned from my rookie mistakes. I'm looking forward to doing better than I did last year."

The second part of Huff's plan of attack was to improve on and fix some of the mistakes that he found. In order to do that, he had to enlist the services of Rischad Whitfield — known by his clients as "The Footwork King".

“Last year, Josh had a problem getting off press coverage at the line,” said Whitfield, per The Philadelphia Magazine. “When he was lining up out wide, defensive backs were jamming him and it was taking him forever to get off the line…I’ve been working on a lot of press releases. I’ve been working on a lot of different footwork moves for Josh that can help him get open because once he gets open and gets that separation from the DB, everything else is history because he is so explosive and fast.”

One thing we know for sure is that Huff is not lacking in confidence. 

"I just know that when I have the ball in my hands, I'm going to make the most of the opportunity," he said after a practice in May. "I know that when I have the ball in my hands, I'm one of the better receivers in the game.

Huff will compete with Riley Cooper, Nelson Agholor and Miles Austin to round out the second and third spots on the Eagles' wide receiver depth chart behind Jordan Matthews.
