Eddie Royal injury leaves Bears without top four wide receivers

The Chicago Bears aren't just hurting at wide receiver -- they're in agony.

On Wednesday, Bears head coach John Fox announced that Eddie Royal is dealing with a hip injury. Fox said Royal will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis, according to Zach Zaidman of the Bears Radio Network.

With Royal sidelined, the Bears are now without their top four wide receivers.

Alshon Jeffery, who's expected to take over as Chicago's No. 1 receiver this season, is also day-to-day with a calf injury. Former seventh-round draft pick Marquess Wilson is dealing with a sore hamstring.

The most serious injury is Kevin White's stress fracture in his left shin, which required surgery that could force him to miss the entire 2015 season. White was the seventh-overall pick in this year's draft and was expected to play a major role as a rookie.

"I've never been a part of anything like that -- all four (top receivers) going down like that," Bears quarterback Jay Cutler said, per Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune.

These injuries have the Bears stretched extremely thin at the wide receiver position. For now, the team must rely on low-profile pass-catchers such as Josh Bellamy and Cameron Meredith to hold the unit together.
