Eddie Royal returns to Bears practice, Alshon Jeffery does not

The Chicago Bears got a little bit healthier at wide receiver this week, as Eddie Royal (hip) and Marquess Wilson (hamstring) returned to practice on Monday, according to Jeremy Stoltz of Scout.com

That news, however, was largely overshadowed by the fact that fellow wideout Alshon Jeffery (calf) remains sidelined, per Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Jeffery has not practiced in nearly a month. Bears head coach John Fox has divulged minimal information on the nature of Jeffery's injury, as fans wonder whether he'll be healthy enough to step in and take over as Chicago's No. 1 receiver when the season starts.

While Jeffery has been a mystery, Royal was straightforward with his plan to play in the season-opener against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.

The Bears are already without first-round rookie Kevin White, who is currently on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after having surgery to fix a stress fracture in his left shin. Chicago can't afford any more setbacks at the wide receiver position.
