Cincinnati Bengals tackle Eric Winston intends to donate his brain to CTE research.

Winston, who is also president of the NFL Players Association, told USA Today Sports that he intends to donate his brain to the Concussion Legacy Foundation after his death for study.

“Obviously, there’s a lot of noise out there in this space,” Winston said. “I think that’s a good thing, even though some of it hasn’t been proven yet, some of it still needs a lot more research. But it’s a lot better than 15 years ago when no one was saying anything.”

This is significant because a number of former players whose brains were studied had already exhibited symptoms and were suspected CTE sufferers before they passed away. Winston has displayed no symptoms. Trends like this will help research and knowledge of the disease for future generations.
