In the Dallas Cowboys’ season opener, rookie RB Ezekiel Elliott logged in his first touchdown in the NFL.

Welcome to the NFL, rookie.

Known for his stylish crop top at Ohio State, Ezekiel Elliott turned in the scarlett and grey over the summer as he started his transition into the NFL.

After getting the jitters out in his first season with Ohio State in 2013, Zeke never looked back. In the proceeding years, the decorative running back collected over 1,800 rushing yards per season, in addition to 41 touchdowns.

Now a Dallas Cowboy, Zeke was lucky enough to land in the same spot as another top-tier rookie, Dak Prescott. Plagued with an injury to starter Tony Romo, the Cowboys had no other option but to have two rookie starters behind the offensive line.

And so far, the work carried out in the preseason by the SEC and Big Ten rookies incorporated itself into the regular season where it really matters.

Well into the third quarter, Ezekiel Elliott received the hand off around the ten-yard line, motivated to reach the end zone for the first time.

With the departure of DeMarco Murray, Zeke is likely to be the primary piece to the Cowboys’ offense, even when Romo returns off his injury. And Zeke’s not the only rookie on the roster having a good day. Former QB for Mississippi State, Dak Prescott is also showing that he belongs on the depth chart.

Sure to not be his first rushing TD of the young 2016 NFL season, Ezekiel Elliott has a large chip on his shoulders as he represents America’s Team. But if Ohio State was any sign for his potential as a professional athlete, Zeke is bound for greatness.

Note: after recording his first NFL touchdown, coach Jason Garrett paid some gratitude for his first-round pick in a touching sideline gesture.
