Fights break out at Bears' final open practice of 2015 preseason
ESPN's Jeff Dickerson detailed a couple of fights at the Chicago Bears' final open practice of the preseason, starting with one particularly fiery encounter between tight end Martellus Bennett and outside linebacker David Bass.
Defensive lineman Ego Ferguson, outside linebacker Willie Young, offensive tackle Charles Leno and guard Louis Nix were all involved in scuffles on Tuesday, according to ESPN. Nix was one of two players waived after practice to make room for quarterback Zac Dysert and tight end Gannon Sinclair, who were both claimed off waivers.
"You’ve got guys competing to try to get spots," Fox said, per ESPN. "It is hot. It is coming down to that point where you pick 53, so it’s kind of par for the course."
A whopping 12 players sat out of practice on Tuesday, according to ESPN. Among those on the sidelines were No. 1 running back Matt Forte (veteran's day); the team's top three receivers in Alshon Jeffery (calf), Eddie Royal (hip) and Marquess Wilson (hamstring); and the top two nose tackles in Jeremiah Ratliff (ankle) and Eddie Goldman (concussion).
