Gary Kubiak gives update on Trevor Siemian, Broncos QB situation
The Denver Broncos were forced to play most of Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers without starting quarterback Trevor Siemian after he suffered a bruised left shoulder, as Gary Kubiak called it. Paxton Lynch came in and played well, leading the Broncos to their fourth victory of the season, but his play won’t be creating a quarterback controversy just yet.
Kubiak said Monday that Siemian remains the team’s starting quarterback, putting to rest any whispers that Lynch has surpassed him on the depth chart.

Furthermore, Kubiak called Siemian day to day, but the team is preparing as if he’ll be able to play Sunday. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise given that Kubiak said he thought Siemian could have gone back into the game, but there was little need for that with the score being the way it was.
"Our plans moving forward are for Trevor to be there Sunday (against the Falcons) and be ready to go, but he's day to day," Kubiak said, via the team's official site.
While the plan is for Siemian to start Week 5, there is a good chance he misses time in practice. If that were to be the case, Kubiak said Siemian would still be able to play, despite being limited in practice.
As for Lynch, Kubiak was pleased with the way he played, and understandably so. Lynch completed 14 of 24 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown, which was the first of his career. For a rookie on short notice, that’s a solid outing.
"Pax went in there and handled himself well," Kubiak said. "I thought the players really helped him."
