Giants coach Ben McAdoo isn't amused by Odell Beckham Jr.'s kicking net antics
Odell Beckham Jr. was having a somewhat disappointing season entering Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, but things changed in the blink of an eye – twice.
Beckham had one of the best outings of his career, catching eight passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns, one of which proved to be the game-winner. Both of his scores went for more than 65 yards – one for 66 yards and the other from 75 yards out – as each of the receptions silenced critics doubting his ability.
What they didn’t do was help his perception off the field.
Head coach Ben McAdoo discussed his receiver’s antics on the sidelines following each of the touchdowns. After his first score, Beckham “cuddled” with the kicking net, which was once his most-hated rival. Following his second touchdown, Beckham removed his helmet (drawing a 15-yard penalty) and proceeded to propose to the net.
"Can't have it. He knows it,” McAdoo said of Beckham’s celebrations with the kicking net. “We need to keep the focus on the ball game."
McAdoo hasn’t been shy about voicing his opinion on the polarizing receiver. He essentially called Beckham a distraction a few weeks ago after he had a breakdown on the sidelines, shedding tears after Eli Manning’s interception.
It’s no surprise McAdoo is taking a firm stance against Beckham’s antics, but it remains to be seen if he’ll actually do anything about them. For the time being, the 3-3 Giants have plenty of work to do.
