GM Ryan Pace had his reasons for not picking a QB in the draft

Published May. 5, 2015 11:54 a.m. ET

The Bears seem content to go ahead with Jay Cutler as their quarterback in 2015, despite all the pre-draft noise surrounding a possible trade. GM Ryan Pace could have used one of his six picks on a QB, but chose to pass up on drafting a signal-caller.

According to an article on ESPN.com, Pace did not want to pass up a good prospect to try and add a QB

"Every time our pick came up we had guys clearly graded better than the quarterbacks that were there," Pace told ESPN. " There was just never an opportunity where we were aligned. "We're excited about college free agency and being able to do it that way."

Pace did just that, signing undrafted free-agent rookie quarterback Shane Carden out of East Carolina University on Sunday.
