Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers named NFL's best improvisational QB

When the play starts breaking down, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is just getting started. With one of the strongest arms in the NFL and great mobility, Rodgers sometimes turns what looks like a sure sack into a score for his offense.

That's why NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks put Rodgers atop his ranking of the league's five best improvisational quarterbacks. The Packers passer finished ahead of Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, Ben Roethlisberger and Colin Kaepernick.

About Rodgers, Brooks wrote the following blurb:

"The reigning NFL MVP is regarded as the top quarterback in the game—and few signal-callers in NFL history can rival his ability to make pinpoint throws off-platform. Rodgers routinely delivers dimes to receivers while rolling to his right or left, which is a testament to his exceptional athleticism, agility and body control. Rodgers has posted a passer rating north of 100 in seven of eight seasons as the Packers' starter, with a number of his completions coming off improvised throws on the move. Considering Rodgers' underrated athleticism and running skills—he averaged 6.3 yards per carry in 2014—the thought of facing the MVP on an unscripted down is enough to keep defensive coordinators up all night."

Rodgers is arguably the best player in the league right now, so it's no surprise he topped this ranking. The Packers must capitalize on his prime years and return to the Super Bowl. He has already delivered the franchise one championship—can he make it two?
