Jacksonville WR Allen Robinson named alternate to Pro Bowl

Pro Bowl voters apparently have some very high standards.

Despite 13 touchdown catches and becoming the first Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver in decade to post a 1,000-yard season, it wasn't enough for Allen Robinson to be selected to the Pro Bowl.

Instead, the Jaguars' second-year wideout was named first alternate, meaning that if one of the eight receivers selected to the team is unable to play, Robinson will be tapped to replace him.

If past history is any indication, there's reason to believe he should pack for Hawaii. As the Florida Times-Union notes, five of the eight receivers originally selected for last season's Pro Bowl ended up dropping out.

The Pro Bowl players will be drafted into two teams by captains Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice prior to the Jan. 31 game in Honolulu.

If Robinson ends up making the trip, he'll be the first Jacksonville offensive player to appear in the Pro Bowl since Maurice Jones-Drew in 2011.
