Jacoby Brissett, Jimmy Garoppolo both practice for Patriots on Tuesday
When it was announced that Jacoby Brissett injured his thumb in last week’s game against the Texans, it left some wondering who would start at quarterback for the Patriots in Week 4 – the final game before Tom Brady’s return. Jimmy Garoppolo has a shoulder injury of his own, and there isn’t another quarterback on the active roster.
Fortunately, it looks like both Garoppolo and Brissett will be available Sunday. The two quarterbacks were in attendance and participants at practice on Tuesday, suggesting their injuries have healed at least somewhat.
Brissett didn’t have anything on his right thumb in the locker room before practice, though it was taped on the field during practice. With that being said, he shouldn’t have much trouble gripping the football with his thumb taped.
Garoppolo’s injury will likely be a matter of pain tolerance and range of motion. Last week, he reportedly couldn’t lift his throwing arm above his head, which obviously is a bad sign.
It seems as though Bill Belichick won’t be needed at quarterback, much to the chagrin of Rex Ryan.
