Jaguars LB Posluszny doesn't let broken hand hold him back

Jacksonville Jaguars middle linebacker Paul Posluszny played with a cast on his broken hand in Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, but you wouldn't have known it based on the nine-year veteran's performance.

Posluszny made 10 tackles, broke up a pass and picked off Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan in the third quarter, leading to a Jacksonville touchdown. Despite the productive day, Posluszny wasn't completely satisfied with how he played.

“We didn’t have any problems health-wise,’’ Posluszny said. “I wasn’t able to get on and off blockers as well as I should have. The tackling was OK, the running was fine, it was just the physical aspect of putting my hands on blockers. Getting on and off blockers and getting separation. I had a hard time with it. I should be better than that.’’

Posluszny's return to the lineup also helped limit the Falcons' running attack. Atlanta was only able to muster 83 yards on the ground on 33 carries, led by Devonta Freeman's 56-yard afternoon.

“It seemed like he was making a lot of plays," Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said. "I know some of the defenses we called were set up for that opportunity and I thought he played his tail off. I felt like he was normal except for the club on."

The 31-year-old Posluszny missed last week's win against the Indianapolis Colts after being injured late in Jacksonville's 42-39 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Dec. 6.

Jordan Tripp started in place of Posluszny last week against the Colts.
