Jaguars licking their wounds after blowout loss to New England
The Jacksonville Jaguars knew they entered their Week 3 game against the New England Patriots as big underdogs, but they way they lost Sunday's game still took them by surprise.
Among the lowlights, Jacksonville gave up 11 third-down conversions in the 51-17 loss to the Patriots, while failing to force even one New England punt.
“You’re going to lose every now and then; you can’t be perfect,” tight end Marcedes Lewis said, per the Florida Times-Union. “But to take on the chin like this, it’s tough. Now it’s about how we come back.”
Coming off a week where the Jaguars were riding high after a 23-20 win over the Miami Dolphins, the team now finds itself on the opposite end of the spectrum.
"It’s a long season and it’s a process,” defensive end Jared Odrick said. “You have to take this and learn from it.”
But while there's still plenty of season left, Sunday's game showed the Jaguars still have a ways to go before catching up with the NFL's elite.
"They definitely had a bead on us, executed really well and we didn’t match it," linebacker Dan Skuta said. "That’s about all I can really say.”
Jacksonville will look to bounce back next week on the road against Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.
