Jameis Winston had a remarkable 55-game streak snapped Sunday

Although he’s just in his second NFL season, Jameis Winston is in the midst of a career year. He already has more touchdowns, a higher passer rating and better completion percentage than he had as a rookie in three fewer games, showing improvements in all areas of his game.

What’s more impressive is what he’s done for the Buccaneers as a team. He currently has them on the longest winning streak in the NFL at five games, elevating the once 3-5 Buccaneers to a possible playoff spot. And as long as they keep winning, numbers won’t matter to him.

He did snap a lengthy streak in the Bucs’ win over the Saints on Sunday, though. For the first time in 56 games as a college and pro quarterback, Winston didn’t score a touchdown, snapping a 55-game streak.

"I know I didn't get a touchdown, but wins, I love wins," Winston said after the win, via the Tampa Bay Times. "As long as we've got a win, touchdowns don't mean much, unless it's a touchdown to win a game. Thank God for our defense. I keep saying that all the time."

Winston didn’t have a great game, completing 16 of 26 passes for 184 yards. He didn’t have a score, but he also didn’t turn the ball over, which was key in limiting Drew Brees’ possessions.

The defense lifted Winston up, picking off Brees three times and holding him without a touchdown, too. The Bucs will face their toughest test yet when they play the Cowboys on Sunday night.
