Jameis Winston would take a pay cut if the Buccaneers drafted his former FSU teammate
Jalen Ramsey is expected to be a top-five pick in the NFL Draft later this month, and there's a chance he goes No. 1 overall to the Titans. The odds of him falling to the Buccaneers at No. 9 is highly unlikely, but anything can happen on draft night.
If Ramsey is somehow still on the board when Tampa Bay makes its pick, the front office would be hard pressed not to take the standout Florida State defensive back. Just about every player and coach on the team would love to have Ramsey in a Buccaneers uniform, but Jameis Winston would be elated.
So much so that he would take a pay cut to make it happen.
"We (FSU) definitely have the best player in the world in Jalen Ramsey," Winston said via Pewter Report. "People talk about his position. But Jalen is the best cornerback, safety ... I will take a pay cut to play with him again. He has a fierce mentality.
"And the best thing about him is he is a Seminole! I have already shot him (general manager Jason Licht) some texts."
Winston hasn't been in the league for a full calendar year yet, but he's already campaigning for the front office to take one of his former teammates. And he's not blindly saying it because of his ties to Florida State. Ramsey is undoubtedly the best defensive back -- and maybe the best player -- in the entire draft.
