Jason Pierre-Paul's new Twitter avatar is an x-ray of his hand
Give Jason Pierre-Paul credit, he's not bashful.
The soon-to-be free agent defensive end switched his Twitter avatar to an x-ray of his mutilated right hand, the result of a July 4 fireworks incident.
Pierre-Paul's status for much of the season was up in the air, but he returned to the New York Giants for eight games, logging one sack. Pierre-Paul enters free agency after having played the past season on a modified franchise tender.
JPP's right hand was heavily bandaged all season, and he was not able to grip. A recent surgery should give him some flexibility to be able to wear a modified glove next season, whether he plays for the Giants or not.
When he was healthy, JPP could be a force. In 2011, he had 16.5 sacks. In 2014, he had 12.5, so whether he ever returns to that form will be something to monitor after this new procedure.
