Jerry Jones explains what he expects out of Tony Romo going forward

The Dallas Cowboys set a franchise record by winning their ninth in a row Sunday. They have a young, dynamic duo on offense in quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott.

All is good in Jerry Jones’ world, right? Well, the outspoken Cowboys owner isn’t ready to put Tony Romo out to pasture and wants the oft-injured quarterback to be ready at a moment’s notice.

“I want him to go in a nanosecond when they call for him,” Jones said in the video above after the Cowboys’ latest win. “And that’s what he’s prepared to do. And my experience in football with that top position in quarterback is that ultimately you need him.”

For now, Prescott has more than exceeded expectations after the Cowboys selected him with a fourth-round pick. He completed 27 of 36 attempts for 301 yards with three touchdowns Sunday.

Romo is a great backup to have, albeit an expensive one. But if Prescott does get injured, having a quarterback who has thrown for more than 34,000 yards is good for peace of mind.
