Jets CB Darrelle Revis still in concussion protocol, could miss Giants

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -- Darrelle Revis might have to sit out his showdown with Odell Beckham Jr.

The New York Jets cornerback was still in the NFL's concussion protocol Wednesday, leaving his status uncertain for the game Sunday against the Giants.

Revis was injured at Houston on Nov. 22 and sat out the Jets' 38-20 win over Miami last Sunday. Revis has not practiced since being hurt and coach Todd Bowles said he hasn't even been able to attend team meetings.

Bowles indicated that Revis is "getting better every day" and has been able to do "light physical activity," but did not appear overly optimistic that he would have his best defensive player on the field Sunday.

"I'm not sure," Bowles said. "If he doesn't do anything in the next two days, he probably will be (ruled out)."

Bowles also was not anticipating having Revis available to practice on Thursday, which would leave him just one full day of possible field work before the game.

Marcus Williams started in Revis' place against the Dolphins, but sprained his left knee on an interception return. Williams sat out practice Wednesday and his availability for the Giants game is also unknown.

Buster Skrine, Darrin Walls, Dee Milliner and Dexter McDougle could all be in the mix to play opposite Antonio Cromartie if neither Revis nor Williams can play.

"I'm not giving away our game plan," Bowles said.

Whoever it ends up being, there's a good chance they'll see lots of Beckham on Sunday. The Giants receiver has 72 catches for 1,005 yards and nine touchdowns -- with a handful of highlight plays mixed in.

"We have guys that can step in and play," Bowles said. "We're going to run our scheme and run our system and the guys just have to play."

Center Nick Mangold (hand), linebacker Calvin Pace (abdomen) and safety Dion Bailey (ankle) did not practice. Wide receiver Brandon Marshall was limited with toe and ankle ailments.
