Jets' Richardson (hamstring) questionable; Fitzpatrick fine

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 6:04 p.m. ET

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) The New York Jets might be without one of their big playmakers on the defensive line.

Sheldon Richardson is questionable for the team's game at Houston on Sunday with a hamstring injury that kept him out of practice all week.

''I'll see him warm up before the game,'' coach Todd Bowles said Friday. ''I'll make a decision after that. It will be a game-time decision.''

Richardson has 19 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in five games after being suspended the first four for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. The defensive lineman could be replaced Sunday by rookie Leonard Williams, who started in Richardson's place during his suspension.

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will start, as expected, after having no setbacks with his surgically repaired left thumb. He'll continue to wear a brace on the thumb, covered by a protective glove.

''Yes, he's fine,'' Bowles said. ''He'll play.''

Safety Dion Bailey did not practice this week and will miss his second straight game with a high ankle sprain.

Cornerback Buster Skrine is questionable after being limited at practice Friday with shoulder and hand injuries. Dee Milliner was a full participant after the cornerback missed two days because of an illness.

The Jets' secondary will get a boost from the returns of safety Calvin Pryor (high ankle sprain) and cornerback Antonio Cromartie (quadriceps), both of whom are probable after fully practicing.

Pryor missed three games, while Cromartie sat out against Buffalo. Cromartie is also expected to serve as New York's primary kick returner, replacing Zac Stacy who was lost for the season when he broke his left ankle on a return to end the first half against the Bills.
