Jets Rumors: Geno Smith Suffered Torn ACL
Recent New York Jets rumors have been about some bad news for quarterback Geno Smith. After undergoing an MRI, it is believed that Smith has a torn ACL.
The New York Jets were able to win their second game of the season, but recent Jets rumors appear that they lost their starting quarterback. In the second quarter of the Jets’ win against the Baltimore Ravens, Smith was forced to leave the game early due to a knee injury.
Smith was sacked and had his knee twisted badly forcing him from the game. After having his knee worked on, Smith would go to the locker room. When he returned to the field, it was in street clothes, and some people including Joe Namath questioned his toughness.
However, according to Ian Rapoport, the initial reports from the MRI indicate that Smith has torn his ACL. Rapoport originally reported that the injury wasn’t supposed to be serious, however, that does not appear to be the case.

Now, the Jets will be going back to Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starting quarterback. Fitzpatrick was able to come on in relief in Week 7, but that doesn’t change the fact that he hasn’t played well this season.
With a very winnable game coming up against the Cleveland Browns, Fitzpatrick can certainly get anther win under his belt next week. The Jets did look much better last week, but their chances of having a winning season are very slim.
Having Smith play the next few weeks was a good opportunity for the organization to find out what type of quarterback Smith is. Now, the Jets will be moving forward with Fitzpatrick with Bryce Petty lurking in the background.
