Jimmy Garoppolo says practice is a 'smoother operation' without Tom Brady
Tom Brady’s suspension has officially begun, which means he’s no longer allowed to be around the team or the Patriots’ facility. In fact, he’s not even able to talk to his teammates about football.
In turn, Jimmy Garoppolo is now the guy in New England. He’s the leader of the offense until Brady returns after Week 4 and is hoping to carry the Patriots to four wins. He’ll now be better prepared than ever before to do exactly that, seeing as Brady can no longer steal reps from him in practice.
Not surprisingly, Garoppolo isn’t complaining.
Garoppolo had been splitting reps with Brady throughout camp and the preseason, but that’s no longer the case – or possible, for that matter. Now, Garoppolo will take all of the first-team reps in practice, which will help prepare him for Week 1 against the Cardinals, and eventually, the following four games.
It’s hard to blame Garoppolo for being pleased that he’s the main guy now without Brady. It’s only going to help him, as well as the offense. No distractions, no stolen reps – just Jimmy G all day, every day.
