Josh McCown reportedly will have MRI on shoulder for banged-up Browns
The Cleveland Browns' quarterback situation is looking pretty dire at this point. A week after losing Robert Griffin III to a shoulder injury that might cost him his season, Josh McCown will have an MRI on Monday on his non-throwing shoulder, Pro Football Talk reported Sunday.
McCown was seen holding his shoulder and was briefly taken to the locker room in the first quarter of the Browns' 25-20 loss to the Ravens. If McCown is unavailable against the Dolphins next Sunday, Cleveland would have to turn to rookie Cody Kessler barring a mid-week trade.
McCown helped the Browns get off to a quick start against Baltimore on Sunday as Cleveland jumped out to a 20-point lead, which it eventually squandered. McCown completed 20 of 33 attempts for 260 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
McCown was coy about his status after the game.
"We will see," he said. "My mindset is that everything will be all right and we will move ahead business as usual."
