Kenny Phillips ready to make his NFL comeback with the Saints
Kenny Phillips has battled injuries throughout his career, but at age 28, he's not done playing in the NFL, not by a long shot if you ask him. According to Sam Spiegelman of NOLA.com, Phillips is ready to bounce back and complete his comeback after signing a reserve/future contract with the New Orleans Saints.
"I know why I was at home. It wasn't because I couldn't play, but because physically injuries kept me off the field," Phillips told NOLA.com. "If I was healthy, I'd still be playing football and at a high level. Unfortunately for me, the injuries kept me at home on the sofa the last two years."
"I'm finally healthy," he proclaimed. "I'm finally good to go."
If Phillips truly is good to go, he could end up being a steal for the Saints. He was a first-round pick by the New York Giants in 2008, but hasn't played in the NFL in the last two seasons. He'll be a player to watch for the team throughout this offseason, and he's definitely not lacking the motivation for a successful turnaround in his career.
