Khalil Mack records first career pick-six (Video)

Oakland Raiders linebacker Khalil Mack recorded his first career pick-six following a Cam Newton mistake.

Khalil Mack, the Oakland Raiders prized defensive stud, can tick another box on his career checklist. Mack returned a Cam Newton interception for a touchdown, making it his first pick-six of his promising career.

The play occurred just prior to halftime and widened the Raiders lead to 24-7. It also marked the first Newton turnover on the afternoon, one that Oakland was happy to capitalize on immediately. Had Mack not scored, chances are the Raiders high-flying offense would have helped get the job done, but this was all about Mack as he continues to force everyone o pay attention to his skill.

Von Miller is widely regarded as the best linebacker in the NFL, but Mack is very much in that conversation. If Miller is the best linebacker right now, Mack will likely have that title in a few years. Heck, if the Raiders are indeed Super Bowl bound, Mack might unseat Miller as early as February.

He was the first piece of what has become the Raiders team of the future, one that is in first place in the AFC West and currently the No. 1 seed in the conference, if the playoffs started today. They don’t but that likely won’t stop the Raiders from continuing to roll.

Mack’s first career pick-six serves as a reminder of just how deadly the Raiders defense can be when it fires on all cylinders.

Derek Carr and Amari Cooper have become the faces of the Raiders amazing season, but Khalil Mack is the gritty mechanic doing the dirty work to ensure the offense has the lead it needs.
