Last Time Raiders Got Seven Players in Pro Bowl...
The Oakland Raiders have the most Pro Bowlers this year with seven!
During Raider Nation’s Great Depression, the Oakland Raiders didn’t have many good players. And most of the ones they got were sorry with the team and great when they left. The Raiders were made of first-round busts and big free agent signing busts.
Remember when CB Nnamdi Asomugha was the only Pro Bowler?
How about when K Sebastian Janikowski and P Shane Lechler represented the Raiders?
Then the were the years that it was just Marcel Reece.
There was a year that Lechler went with LS Jon Condo too.
That madness ended last year when QB Derek Carr, WR Amari Cooper and OLB Khalil Mack were voted in. And of course, RB Latavius Murray made the trip as an alternate. This year. The Raiders are sending a league-leading seven players to the Pro Bowl
The offensive players include C Rodney Hudson, OG Kelechi Osemele, OT Donald Penn, WR Amari Cooper and QB Derek Carr. On defense, it was FS Reggie Nelson and OLB Khalil Mack. Obviously, that signifies a new day in Raider Nation with all the good players here now.
And at the same time, it takes us all the way back to 1983, 33 years ago. That year, the players were TE Todd Christensen and OT Henry Lawrence on offense. On defense, the players were S Van McElroy, OLBs Rod Martin and Ted Hendricks, CB Lester Hayes and DL Howie Long.
That was the last time the Raiders went to and won the Super Bowl too!
Just sayin’!
