Lions CB Darius Slay: 'I'm a Pro Bowl player' on game film

Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay feels slighted by fans who voted for this year's Pro Bowl roster. He wasn't included among the top-10 vote-getters at his position, but that has hardly shaken his confidence.

Slay said people should check out his game film to see how good he really is.

It could be tough for me to get in, just because of the pick issue. But you look at my game film or how I do on film, pretty much, I'm a Pro Bowl player. But it's all voting. If you ain't one of the top guys already that have came out till last year, you could be overlooked.

...

I mean, if anybody looks at film, they know that I've been playing very, very, very, very solid. Like one of the top guys. I'm going against the No. 1 guys on their team, making plays. I don't know. I don't know what else you need to do.

Slay, a former second-round draft pick, only has two interceptions this season -- one in Week 1 and one on Sunday. He has defended a total of 11 passes, though, and the Lions have a surprisingly strong pass defense that ranks ninth in the NFL with an average of 232.6 yards allowed per game.

Slay's contributions are usually quiet, but they've been essential to Detroit's defensive success. The 24-year-old cornerback is only in his third season, so there's still plenty of time for him to make a Pro Bowl appearance.
