Lions CB Quandre Diggs feels pressure to live up to brother's NFL legacy
Detroit Lions cornerback Quandre Diggs has more than just a late-round draft status to overcome. Diggs is also driven to step out from the shadow of older brother Quentin Jammer, who was the fifth-overall pick in 2002 and went on to play 12 NFL seasons.
"I always compete against what he did," Diggs told Justin Rogers of Mlive.com. "Even when he was in college and I was seven or eight years old, playing little league football, I was competing against him, trying to get more interceptions than he would get on Saturdays."
Both Diggs and Jammer played their college ball at Texas. Diggs (11) had more collegiate interceptions than Jammer (7) and told MLive.com that he has the better set of hands. Diggs (5-9, 196 lbs.) is smaller than Jammer (6-0, 204 lbs.), though, and needs 21 professional interceptions to catch his big brother.
Diggs will likely compete for a role as Detroit's slot cornerback as a rookie.
