Lions DT Tyrunn Walker loves the bull rush: 'It works for me, man'

Defensive tackle Tyrunn Walker has been trying to perfect his bull rush for a while now.

Before signing with the Detroit Lions in free agency this offseason, Walker worked with New Orleans Saints defensive line coach Bill Johnson on the move. Since then, Lions defensive line coach Kris Kocurek has helped him spice it up.

"Coach Johnson was great at showing me the bull," Walker said, per Kyle Meinke of MLive.com. "But when I came here, the way Kris looks at it and teaches it, is even better. He wants you to get a little shake in it, and have the O-lineman stiffen up.

"It works for me, man. Like I said, it works."

From there, Walker can open up his full arsenal of pass-rushing moves.

"I set everything up off of the bull," Walker said, via MLive.com. "I mean, you got to study the guys you go against, and how they sit, and you got to be able to work stuff off of the bull. It's one of my go-to's, for sure. I like using it. They respect my power, and everything else will work."

Walker, 25, is a decent-sized D-tackle (6-3, 305 lbs.) with a chance to start for the Lions in 2015. At the moment, he's paired with Caraun Reid in the starting lineup, but Haloti Ngata will supplant one of them when he returns from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
