Lions may try to add DL help on draft's final day

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) General manager Martin Mayhew keeps saying the Detroit Lions are drafting the best player available. Their first three picks all seemed to fill specific spots where they needed help.

If that trend continues, perhaps the Lions will take a defensive lineman in the late rounds Saturday.

Detroit picked Duke guard Laken Tomlinson in the first round, Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah in the second and Stanford cornerback Alex Carter in the third. The Lions have not addressed the defensive tackle spot yet in this draft. They lost Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley to free agency, but they traded for Haloti Ngata to help the interior earlier this offseason.

The Lions have one pick each in the fifth, sixth and seventh rounds.
