Marcus Mariota picks up another accolade
Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has quickly established himself as playmaker three games into his rookie season, forcing the entire NFL to take notice.
Thursday, Mariota was named the league's Offensive Rookie of the Month for September.
In his first three starts, the No. 2 overall pick in last April's draft led the Titans to a 1-2 record, completing 61-of-97 passes for 833 yards and eight touchdowns, with two interceptions.
Per the team's official website, Mariota's 109.2 passer rating in September is the eighth best in NFL history over a player's first three starts.
Mariota, who won the league's Offensive Player of the Week award for his performance in Tennessee's season-opening win over Tampa Bay, is the fourth player in Oilers/Titans franchise history to win Rookie of the Month honors. Former running back Chris Johnson was the last player to be recognized, back in 2008.
The Titans have a bye this Sunday. Mariota will look to continue his strong start Oct. 11 against the Buffalo Bills.
