Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota couldn't guide his team to victory Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, but he was able to write his name in the team's record book, thanks to his performance.

Per the team's official website, Mariota, who threw for 218 yards in the 24-21 loss, broke Vince Young's record for the most passing yards by a Titans' rookie.

Through his first nine games in the NFL, Mariota has thrown for 2,244 yards. That eclipses Young's mark of 2,199 yards set in 2006.

With his three touchdown passes in the loss, Mariota became the first Tennessee quarterback, rookie or otherwise, to have at least three touchdowns in three games in a season since Billy Volek in 2004.
