The Atlanta Falcons are no longer undefeated, but quarterback Matt Ryan—who was harassed by the Saints during Thursday night’s 31-21 loss—isn’t worried.

“It was a tough night,” Ryan said, via D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I don’t think there’s a loss of identity or anything like that. We just didn’t play as well as we are capable of.”

The Falcons committed three turnovers (all lost fumbles) and had a punt blocked for a touchdown. Meanwhile, Saints quarterback Drew Brees completed 30 of 39 passes 312 yards and one touchdown.

Ryan took a beating. He absorbed a season-high five sacks, lost a fumble on a bad snap and mishandled a handoff on a fourth down play. His teammates lost fumbles on back-to-back drives before the half, and the Saints went ahead big to start the second half with 17 points on their first three drives.

“We made mistakes early on and it cost us,” running back Devonta Freeman said, via ESPN. “I feel like we beat ourselves, but they’re a talented team and they did a lot of great things tonight.”

Atlanta has now committed six turnovers over the last two weeks. The three Thursday night were too much to overcome for the Falcons, who are now 5-1.
