Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh stomps on Russel Wilson's ankle

Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is back to his stompy ways. This time, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is his victim.

If you are a Miami Dolphins fan, you love Ndamukong Suh’s gritty, passionate style of play. If you are a fan of any other NFL team, you are likely mortified by his history of violent on-field incidents. His episodes of stomping are often framed as unfortunate accidents. Commentators rarely stop to note the obvious: Suh is an elite athlete and has the coordination to control where his feet land. He isn’t a nine-month-old using a spoon for the first time and feeding his nose and eyebrows applesauce.

Suh’s stomp did not help his team beat the Seahawks, as the Dolphins fell to a 12-10 loss.

In 2014, Suh executed a similar move against Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He was suspended one game for that move.

In 2011, Suh stomped on the arm of Evan Dietrich-Smith in his Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers. In 2012, he kicked Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin. In 2014, he managed to dodge a fine when he “accidentally” kicked off the helmet of then Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris.

Russell Wilson appeared gimpy after being Suh-ed, but said, “I’ll be all right. I’ll be ready to roll.” NFL.com, however, reported that the ankle injury was more serious than what Wilson revealed and could require more time to heal, jeopardizing Wilson’s participation in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams.

It’s hard to tell whether Suh’s stomp on Wilson was deliberate. It certainly looked less deliberate than some of his previous indiscretions, but given his history, the NFL could easily choose to punish him anyway. If Wilson has to miss any game’s because of the incident there will be plenty of Seattle fans calling for a lengthy ban, deserved or not.
