Michael Bennett gives his reasoning for potential holdout
Michael Bennett is unhappy with his current contract with the Seattle Seahawks. Bennett said last week that holding out at training camp is a possibility.
We know Bennett wants more money despite signing a new four-year deal worth 28.5 million just last year. Bennett has now revealed his reasoning on why he deserves more money.
“I know a lot of people disagree because I don’t put up all the numbers, but if you watch the games, I’m doing good things,” Bennett said, via Pro Football Talk. “They want me to play five positions but pay me for one.”
Bennett does do multiple things for the Seahawks, but it is all within the realm of the defensive line. It is rare for a team to readjust a players contract when he still has three years left on the deal. The Seahawks have many players such as Russell Wilson, Bruce Irvin, and Bobby Wagner all needing new deals before the 2016 season.
Bennett may have to wait and see how other players contracts turn out before the team reevaluates his current deal.
