Michael Wilhoite Suplexed Larry Fitzgerald On Dead Play (Video)
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Michael Wilhoite slipped into WWE mode when he suplexed Larry Fitzgerald on a play that’d been blown dead on Thursday night
Drew Stanton vs Blaine Gabbert was the quarterback matchup that nobody expected or wanted for Thursday Night Football in Week 5. However, it’s the hand that fans were dealt with the Arizona Cardinals taking on the San Francisco 49ers. Needless to say, things were never going to be pretty with those two throwing the football. And through the first few series and attempts, it was definitely ugly. However, 49ers linebacker Michael Wilhoite made it even uglier with quite the dirty play on Larry Fitzgerald.
In the first quarter, Stanton started off 0-for-3 throwing the ball. However, it looked like he had his first completion of the night to the veteran Fitzgerald. Instead, the whistles were blowing and the play was blown dead for a false start.
Well after everyone on the field had realized this, though, Wilhoite wrapped up Fitzgerald and proceeded to suplex him to the ground. No flag was thrown other than the false start:

The fact that Antonio Brown gets fined $24,000+ for hip-thrusting and then this play doesn’t draw a flag is absurd to me. This isn’t WWE and Wilhoite isn’t Brock Lesnar. A “hit” like that is brutal when the play is live. When it’s dead, that’s unacceptable. Hopefully some sort of fine comes his way for this in the coming days—possibly along with his WWE contract.
