Mike Evans Skies Over Robert Alford for Touchdown Catch (Video)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans soared over Atlanta Falcons cornerback Robert Alford and out-muscled him for a touchdown
If there are two things that you can never take away from Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans, it’s his ability to make incredible plays and the fact that he’s a physical monster. Apparently neither of those things were on the scouting report of the Atlanta Falcons—or at least Falcons cornerback Robert Alford knew and just couldn’t do a thing about it.
After the Bucs fell behind 13-7 at home, they needed something big to happen. They got it early in the second quarter with a Gerald McCoy sack that caused Matt Ryan to fumble. Tampa recovered in good field position. From there, you had to know they were going to look to end zone soon and that Evans was going to be the primary target.
Even with everyone knowing that type of play was coming at least once, Atlanta left Evans in one-on-one man coverage on the outside. Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston recognized this and threw it the way of his big wideout. Mike Evans then rose up and just simply dominated Alford, who was covering him, by out-jumping and out-muscling him in a big way for the touchdown:
What a catch!

That’s a grown-man touchdown if I’ve ever seen one. That’s absolutely phenomenal physicality and effort from the Tampa receiver.
Evans has had problems with drops throughout his career, even dropping a potential big gain on Thursday night in the first quarter. However, it’s impossible to deny his value and ability after plays like this.
