New York Giants CB Prince Amukamara has no plans to take it easy on Victor Cruz
On Thursday, the New York Giants decided that Victor Cruz would not be placed on the physically unable to perform list. The Giants plan to ease him back into action, and he will likely only participate in individual drills to kick of training camp, but his full participation will becoming soon.
When the time comes for Cruz to line up with the first team offense in 11-on-11 drills, don't expect opposing cornerback Prince Amukamara to take it easy on him. Amukamara plans to give him a hard time in practice, just like he would do for any wide receiver who lines up across from him.
"Anytime someone is on the field, I definitely have to treat them as if they’re 100 percent unless they have the same color jersey as Eli, which means you can’t really touch him," Amukamara said to reporters on Thursday, per Big Blue Interactive. "Or if Victor says, “Hey Prince, chill out” and stuff like that— then yeah— but as long as the tempo is 100 percent, I’m going to give 100 percent."
Earlier this week, Amukamara told True Jersey's Jordan Raanan that Cruz looked faster than before his injury when the two trained together in Arizona. Amukamara will get the opportunity to see that speed first hand in practice in due time.
