New York Jets open camp but stalemate with Ryan Fitzpatrick lingers
The New York Jets reported to training camp in Florham Park, N.J., this morning, with one glaring omission.
Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, coming off the best year of his career, still hasn't agreed to a deal with the Jets, despite both sides saying they hope to get it done.
Reports on Wednesday suggested negotiations had tailed off recently.
It doesn't appear there will be a deal between the #Jets and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick before the start of camp, I'm told. The standoff continues.

The Jets report to training camp and there's no sign of QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, who remains far apart with the team... https://t.co/NouZjql69f

As #Jets report to camp, source says no recent talks between team and Ryan Fitzpatrick, they remain far apart, no resolution expected soon

Fitzpatrick hasn't said much about it, though he hasn't been hiding either. He showed up at a charity golf tournament last week and dropped in on wide receiver Brandon Marshall just a couple days ago.
With the team actually in camp now, maybe we'll see both sides show some urgency to get a deal done.
In the meantime, Geno Smith figures to get the first-team reps.
