NFL fan designs Madden 16 cover featuring Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate

Every NFL star dreams of being featured on the cover of the Madden video game series—unless, of course, they believe in the infamous curse. Luckily for Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate, there's no known hex on players featured in fan-generated versions of the game's cover.

Thanks to the creative eye of graphic artist Matt Stellar, Lions fans now know what Madden '16 would have looked like had Tate been picked to grace the cover instead of New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

So, what would it take for Tate to land on the cover in real life?

Hauling in 100 catches in a season would be a fine start. Tate isn't losing any sleep about coming up one catch shy of that milestone in 2014.

"I wasn't too worried about it," Tate told Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press. "I didn't even notice until after the (last) game that I got 99 catches. But honestly, it's not a big deal. I just want to win games. They brought me here not to see how many catches I could get, not to see how many yards I can get; just to help this team win. And that's all I really wanted to do."

In 2014, his first season with the Lions, Tate set career-high figures for receptions (99) and yardage (1,331), all while sharing the field with one of the league's best pass-catchers in Calvin Johnson.
